Conservation and Restoration of the paintings „Nr.3“, 1965 by Hanne Darboven and „Mischmaschbild“, 1979/80 by Gustav Kluge
The focus of the first painting treatment was the removal of adherent polyurethan foam of white monochrome PVAc-based emulsion paint and the matting of glossy areas using air abrasion. Other methods, e.g. laser treatment, were evaluated. The conservation of the second painting was based on the stabilisation of intended, lifted paint. Aerosol misting as well as an automatic liquid dispenser were used to consolidate the water sensitive, matt paint. Other treatments were e.g. the consolidation an reconstruction of pieces of coal.
