Katharina Martinelli

Certified conservator and managing director

Katharina Martinelli has been the owner of Atelier Roeck Restaurierung since 2005. In the years following her graduation in 2005, she worked in Hamburg and interrupted her self-employment in 2009 to 2011 to join Contemporary Conservation Ltd. (Christian Scheidemann) in New York. Since 2011 she has been based in Berlin with her studio.

In 2005, she graduated with honors in “Art Technology, Conservation and Restoration of Art and Cultural Property” from the Dresden University of the Arts under the supervision of Prof. Winfried Heiber. Her diploma thesis work was conducted at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, Galerie der Gegenwart. In addition to her thesis work, she attended further studies in art history (fine arts after 1945) at the University of Hamburg.

In the 25 years of her professional career, she has gained a broad range of experience through various German and international institutions in Australia, Italy, Croatia, Netherlands, Austria, UK and the USA . She is internationally networked and enjoys using her English and Italian language skills professionally.

She is actively engaged in the field of conservation and restoration of historical paintings and contemporary art in museum conservation as well as for galleries and art collectors in Germany and abroad.
